Return to your roots!

Lately I’ve been in a real rut with my style! Hating everything in my wardrobe, constantly saying I have nothing to wear! What’s new! In particular this time of year when the shops are still summer but getting their Autumn/winter collections in and the weather being all over the place it becomes even harder to ‘find something to wear’ am I right ladies?

With this outfit I’ve really gone back to my roots, something classic that I can honestly say head to toe is me! Back when I was 15 it was the grunge/vintage fashion that really inspired me and heavily influenced my style and first got me into fashion. I still continue to express myself through this era and in my personal style today.  A vintage Harley tee, ripped black skinnies and a chunky boot, you can’t really go wrong with.

So if you ever find yourself in a rut, think about what you really love to wear, your favourite colours, what does your style say about you. Feeling good about ourselves and comfortable in what we put on is so important and is all that matters. Try to be the best version of yourself and you will always shine through.

Styling for summer!

Summer has arrived! I thought now that July has arrived it would be a perfect opportunity to kick of the summer style posts. The weather has been unreal lately and I don’t know about you but I always feel a little weird wearing shorts in the UK! Anyone else?

There’s been a craze online for cycling shorts lately or what some might call (peddle pushers) I remember having a shiny navy pair as my PE shorts at school ha but I personally love them because of the length and how bloody comfortable they are. I love styling them with an oversized t-shirt and a pair of sneakers. This has been my go to look on the warmer days since the hot weather has hit.

I guess this is also the debut of my off white belt on my blog which I treated myself to about a month ago now! Apart from it being bright yellow and a statement in itself I love how it can be worn multiple ways and instantly adds a pop of colour to an all black outfit. This certainly won’t be the last you’ll see of it.

So may the sun keep shining and remember kids to stay hydrated! See ya real soon!

A sunshine state of mind.

First things first how the hell is it May already! It’s hard to believe that a year ago I finished Uni! I feel like this time of year is when the weather gets better the warm temperatures start coming in and everyone is in a good mood and enjoying themselves.

Normally that’s me, when the sunlight comes beating through my bedroom window in the morning it sets me up to have a good day. Recently that necessarily hasn’t been true. Since coming back from my trip to Brighton and I've nothing really to look forward too I’m sat wondering what’s next...?

I’m craving something different, a new challenge, a new start. Where I am at the moment is not where I want to be, in fact I don’t know where I want to be or go for that matter but one thing I do know is that I just want to be happy. I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut, some days are better than others I just need something to change.

Its ok to not be okay and I think we as humans need to remember that. Just because the sun shines doesn’t mean we feel like doing so either. I'll keep searching, keep going and hopefully I’ll find what I’m looking for, something new, something away from all of this. Just a few thoughts that have been running through my mind over and over and thought I’d share.

Anyways I'm happy its Spring! heres to more sun, less layers, better times...

My soul place!

“ Did you know we all have at least one soul place in the physical world? A soul place is a special site or spot where we experience unique feelings of belonging, empowerment and energetic rejuvenation.”

It’s no secret to how much I adore this place. Its 2 weeks today since I returned to the seaside town of Brighton and I captured just about everything and thought I’d reflect on my trip and share with you some unseen pictures.  So unlike the past 2 times I’ve visited this time around I was heading back to Brighton for 3 days, which was amazing! Now usually when I book any trip away it usually involves some sort of gig/festival and tends to be the reasoning for booking a trip. I was desperate to return to Brighton once the new year came around and always said I’d want to come back for at least a couple of days.  It just so happened to be that my favourite band had booked a tour and Brighton happened to be one of the dates and immediately knew if I was going to travel to any date it had to be this one.

Apart from the gig I had also booked an appointment to get my very first tattoo! And as I sit here in the sunshine out my back garden looking down at my arm it still doesn’t seem real that I actually got one. There was no ifs or buts, I found an artist, I enquired, I paid my deposit and that was it. Not at any stage did I think or worry about the pain, weather id like it or if I should get it. I just bloody went for it and DID IT! And thinking back now if I can get a tattoo with this state of mind, I can do anything right!

I won’t go too in depth about the meaning behind the tattoo, as I’ve already got a post about it on my instagram also have a blog post about my favourite band which I will link below for anyone interested. But basically it’s something I’ve thought about and wanted for a really long time and getting it done in Brighton meant that I would always have something to remember this trip by and why I got it. I’m so in love with it and so glad I got it done and how special to get it done in Brighton.

I don’t know what it is about this place but it feels like home to me. I don’t know weather it’s because it’s by the sea or the quint little lanes and shops/cafes or even just the atmosphere this little place has but I walk around and feel like I belong. I feel like I can be myself and wear whatever without being judged or looked at. There are so many amazing humans and individuals I witnessed over the 3 days I spent there with so much style and fashion sense that I haven’t seen anywhere else. No one follows the crowd they are who they are and wholeheartedly and completely themselves which is exactly how I feel when I step foot in this place. No worries, no nothing. My soul place, Brighton.

Spring is in the air!

According to google It’s the first day of SPRING! Yep you heard me!!

And what a perfect opportunity to post these photos that I shoot yesterday, can we just talk about this back drop for a second, the lighthouse, the blue sky’s, the sun on the sea capturing the start of what I hope keeps coming.

I returned to my roots so to speak with this outfit, this used to be my go to look back in my college days. You simply can’t go wrong with a graphic tee and a vintage flannel. I’ve had this flannel for many years and its honestly one of my absolute favourites, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to part with it. Despite the sun it was pretty windy down by the sea, so multiple layers and a beanie was needed. I threw on some black skinnies and my docs and finished the look with a denim jacket.

No winter lasts forever, even though it seemed that way the past month. The forecast has been all over the place we’ve had snow, we’d have a dry day to it raining for 3 days straight the temperatures have been below freezing and the dull dark days never seemed to go away.

So here’s to Spring! May the blue skys, sunshine and good times keep coming.

Faux fur in February!

This dreamy faux fur jacket is one of my absolute favs in my wardrobe! Purchased from Zara back in November it honestly goes with absolutely everything. Worn on a night out with a skirt and boots or dressed down with vans like I have in these photos, it’s just such a versatile piece.  I love the different textures of the fur and the best thing about it is THE WARMTH! I kid you not I worn it with a t-shirt underneath one day when it was so cold outside yet I remained so toasty and warm inside.

These jeans are golden oldies high-waisted woman jeans from zara (the best) their the most comfortable pair I own and I wish they would make these again because I need them in every colour. Paired with a stripy knit top also an oldie from zara added a cool vibe with this £2 beanie.

This outfit was completely unplanned and something I just threw on and sometimes by doing that they turn out to be the best ones. So here’s to more throwing on something on the day because you want to wear it and taking more risks as opposed to planning out every inch and item you put on your body because where’s the fun in that eh!?
