Home sweet home.

As much as I love a plain wall, this pretty outdoor setting was calling my name and fits perfectly for what I’m about to write about. These photos captured where taken just up the road from me just beside the sea and I’m in love with the botanic vibe being surrounded by all things green and summery vibes in both scenery and outfit.

Home, relating to the place where one lives. For those that don’t know I flew the nest last September to complete my degree in Southampton. I lived there for a total of 9 months and as of tomorrow I’ll have been home for 2 months now. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I’m so grateful for every opportunity, friend, encounter I’ve gained from living away from home.  I really do miss it. (maybe not my flat ha) but I really came to love the place and everything in it. I can’t believe how fast those 9 months had gone and now it’s over and I’m now a graduate! WHAT!

I’ve been reflecting on my time spent living alone and thought I’d share I few things I’ve learnt while doing so.

Being Independent.
Everything from cooking my own meals, doing my own washing, going food shopping became apart of my daily routine, I did my fair share of adulting while I was away that’s for sure. At the start I didn’t really know what I was doing but trust me you learn and it gets easier and before you know it you’re a domestic goddess! So weather your going away to Uni or getting your own place it’s something as we get older we have to do and I really loved going about my day to day business and not having to tell anyone where I was going or what I was doing its definitely missed now that I’m under my parents roof again for the mean time.

Your humans.
When you move away, it definitely comes to light who your real friends are. The ones that bother to stay in contact and support you. My parents were an incredible support to me throughout the whole time I was away, with a call from my mum everyday always checking up on me and a few very special friends always there on the other side of my screen to talk to and even get on a plane and come visit me. It’s one thing you can’t neglect, family is so important and it really made me realise that when I wasn’t there to see or talk to them every day. So stay in contact with those that matter most and don’t worry too much about the ones who don’t. There’s a reason why they got left behind.

Home.

No matter where you come to be, whether it be living in a new place for university or to pursue your dream job as cliché as it may sound there is no place like home. It’s more a feeling than a place I think. It’s the place you grew up in, made your first steps, where your family belong. It’s the places, the people, your accent. Its where you went to your first concert and where memories were created. No matter where I may end up I won’t forget where I came from.
